Versailles Dedicates New School Building

Sunday afternoon Versailles opened the much anticipated new school building. The building houses grades K-12 and includes a new gym, theater and state of the art technology. Tom Doseck, who spent over two years as the building manager received a standing ovation for the countless hours and work he put into the project.

Country Fest, Tractor Square Dancing

Toledo Glassmen; MAC Land Connection

The Toledo Glassmen, a drum and bugel corp based in Maumee, OH and founded in 1961  has a MAC connection; MAC Online’s own Cory Dipold. Cory works for Leadership Toledo, a non-profit organization helping transfer youths into future leaders.

The Glassmen and Leadership programs have joined forces, raising funds for both organizations and Cory is an enthusiastic supporter of the group. Below is video of the Glassmen performing at Bowling Green State University, Cory played a pivotal role in obtaining the video.

Versailles Runner Wins National One Mile Race

Sam Prakel of Versailles won the New Balance National 1 Mile Race.  Prakel traveled to Greensboro, NC where the event was held June 17-19. Prakel finished with a time of 4:17.46, topping the second place runner by nearly three seconds. Prakel will be a sophomore next season at Versailles High School and is the brother of Mary Prakel, who is currently running for West Point.

Dedication of New Bremen Lockkeeper’s House

New Bremen Historical Society held a dedication ceremony for the new Lockkeeper’s House. The House has been reconstructed and will once again be the focal point of The Golden Triangle of Auglaize County; acting as a museum, visitors center and house the Southwestern Auglaize County Chamber of Commerce.

The following video features the AC Swing Band, playing the “Star Spangle Banner” and the New Bremen American Legion presenting the colors.

Canal Dedication in New Bremen

Miami and Erie Canal Visitors Center Dedication
06/09/2010 – 06/19/2010

The community is invited to attend the dedication and grand opening of the Miami and Erie Canal Visitors Center (Lockkeeper’s House) on Saturday, June 19th at 10:00 am. The ceremony will take place at the Visitors Center, located at Lock One North in New Bremen.

There will be a brief dedication ceremony, which will be followed by “Key Day”. If you participated in this Historic Association fund raising event, and have purchased a key to the Lockkeeper’s House, bring it along and try it in the door. The person whose key opens the door will win $1,000.00, a lifetime membership to the NB Historic Association, and several pieces of local artwork.

This event is hosted by the Village of New Bremen, New Bremen Historic Association, the Miami and Erie Canal Corridor Association and the Southwestern Auglaize County Chamber of Commerce.
